Rental of Danish Holiday House started little by little about 50 years ago, and in the beginning it was often the local tourist offices that facilitated it. Gradually more and more agencies were founded, and today the lettering handled by a small number of large agencies with holiday houses across the country, some regional and local agencies, and some Danish tourist offices. Today approximately 1/5 of all privately-owned Danish holiday houses can be rented though agencies.

The Association of Danish Holiday House Letters represents these agencies that facilitates the letting of private residents' holiday houses in Denmark.
